After beginning the culinary program at New Market, Hayden started expressing an interest in working. He attended our Pre-ETS workshops to learn work readiness and self-advocacy skills in early 2022. Hayden has also taken advantage of Morningside's Pre-ETS job tours to learn about various businesses explore potential career paths.

After attending a job tour at Ricardo's Kitchen and Bar, Hayden decided he wanted to do an internship there. Hayden was able to complete a 40-hour, paid internship at Ricardo's. During the internship, Hayden joined the kitchen crew and performed a variety of food preparation duties. Chef Mikael and Ricardo's owner, Shane, were impressed with the culinary skills Hayden showcased during his internship.

Shortly after Hayden completed his internship at Ricardo's, Chef Mikael offered him a part-time job as a Line Cook that would coordinate with Hayden's school schedule. Not only did Hayden receive a paycheck and valuable experience from the internship to add to his resume, but he also secured himself a job doing what he's passionate about! Hayden will be able to advance in his new line cook position as he learns new skills.
